Common questions

What exactly is "process service"?

Process service is the formal delivery of legal documents — summonses, complaints, subpoenas, motions, divorce petitions, eviction notices — to the person they name. A registered, neutral third party (the process server) hands the documents directly to the recipient and signs a sworn Proof of Service that the court relies on as the official record of notice.

Without proper service, most courts will refuse to hear a case. We handle the attempt log, the GPS-tagged photo evidence, and the POS-010 paperwork so your filing holds up.

What's the difference between Standard, Rush, and Same-Day service?

Standard ($95) — first attempt within 5–7 business days, up to 3 attempts included. Best for non-urgent civil matters and routine subpoenas.

Rush ($145) — first attempt within 2–3 business days. Use when you're approaching a court deadline and need confidence the serve will land in time.

Same-Day / Urgent ($250) — we dispatch within a four-hour window the same day, provided documents arrive before noon. Required for TROs, ex parte motions, and emergency hearings.

All tiers include the signed Proof of Service, GPS-watermarked photo evidence, and an attempt log. Add E-File the Proof of Service ($40) at checkout to skip the courthouse trip.

How long does electronic filing actually take?

Once the serve is completed and the Proof of Service is signed, we submit to the court's e-filing gateway the same business day (or first thing the next morning if signed after 4pm). The court typically returns a conformed, stamped copy within 24–48 hours; complex courts can take up to 3 business days.

We forward the conformed copy to you by email as soon as it lands — no need to check back.

Do you cover counties outside Sacramento?

Yes. We operate primarily in the Sacramento — Greater Bay Area corridor and partner with vetted, registered servers across California for out-of-area work. Add the Out-of-County Surcharge at checkout in 25-mile increments beyond the standard county line. For out-of-state serves, contact support before ordering so we can confirm coverage and timeline.

What happens if the recipient can't be served?

Every serve includes three attempts at varied times of day. If we still can't reach the recipient, we'll issue a Declaration of Due Diligence documenting every attempt — the document many courts require before they'll authorize substitute service or service by publication.

If the address turns out to be wrong, add a Skip Trace from the catalog and we'll re-attempt at the verified address.
