Frequently asked questions

How do I log my first attempt?

Open the job from your assignment list and tap Log Attempt. The app will capture your GPS coordinates, prompt you to take one or more photos (door, address number, vehicle, or the recipient), and ask you to select the outcome — served, not served, sub-served, or moved/wrong address. Add a short narrative if anything was unusual. Tap Save and the attempt is timestamped, watermarked, and added to the job's evidence trail.

What if I'm in an area with no cell signal?

StrikeServe is designed to work offline. The app caches your assigned jobs locally and lets you log attempts, capture photos, and record GPS coordinates without a connection. Everything is stored on the device and queued for upload. The next time you have signal — or when you return to Wi-Fi — the app syncs automatically in the background. You'll see a small cloud icon next to any attempt that hasn't synced yet.

How do I export a POS-010 for filing?

Open the completed job and tap Generate Proof of Service. The app pre-fills the California POS-010 form using the attempt data (date, time, address, manner of service, and the recipient information you entered). Review the draft, sign electronically under penalty of perjury, and tap Export to download a court-ready PDF. You can email it directly, AirDrop it to the filing attorney, or save it to Files. The signed PDF and all supporting photos stay in your StrikeServe evidence vault for seven years.

Can I use StrikeServe as a solo independent process server, or do I need to join an agency?

Both work. StrikeServe supports solo registered process servers who self-assign their own jobs as well as servers who receive work from one or more agencies. If you're solo, sign up on the Server plan, enter your registration number, and you can immediately create jobs, log attempts, and generate proofs of service for clients you bring in yourself. If you later join an agency, your agency can invite your existing account — your job history stays with you.

How do I add my agency or invite my servers?

Sign in to the web platform at strikeserve.com, open Agency Settings, and choose Invite Server. Enter the server's email and registration number; they'll receive an invitation to link their existing StrikeServe account or create one. Once linked, you can assign jobs to them, see their attempt history in real time, and route payouts through your agency's Stripe Connect account. Agency owners can also invite billing contacts, paralegals, and read-only viewers with role-based permissions.

What is the Declaration of Due Diligence, and when do I generate one?

A Declaration of Due Diligence is a sworn statement listing every attempt you made to personally serve a defendant before resorting to substituted service, posting, or service by publication. Most California courts require at least three attempts at varied days and times — though the actual standard is set by the court. StrikeServe generates the declaration automatically from your logged attempts: tap Generate Declaration on the job, review the attempt list, sign under penalty of perjury, and export the PDF for filing alongside your Proof of Service.

How does the photo watermark work for court submission?

Every photo you capture inside the app is watermarked at the moment of capture with the precise GPS coordinates, the date and time (down to the second), and the resolved street address. The watermark is burned into the image — it cannot be edited or removed after the fact. The original unmodified file is also retained on our servers with cryptographic hashes so the chain of custody can be verified if a serve is ever challenged. Courts have accepted this format as competent evidence of presence at the address.

What does it cost?

For individual process servers: Server Free at $0/month (up to 10 jobs/month, core features), Server Pro at $10/month (unlimited jobs, POS-010 export, declaration generator), and Server Premium at $25/month (priority support, advanced reporting, offline route history).

For agencies and law firms: Agency Starter at $25/month (up to 3 servers), Agency Pro at $75/month (up to 15 servers, client portal), and Agency Enterprise at $200/month (unlimited servers, white-label, API access, dedicated success manager). All plans include unlimited storage of evidence for the 7-year retention period.

What happens if my phone dies in the middle of a serve?

Anything you've already saved in the app is preserved locally and synced to our servers either immediately (if you had signal) or as soon as the phone is powered back on with a connection. Photos and attempt logs are written to local storage the instant you tap save, so a sudden battery loss won't lose work you've already captured. If you were mid-attempt when the phone died, you can re-open the job once you've charged up and continue from where you left off. We recommend carrying a small power bank — process servers tell us it's the single best piece of gear they own.

How do I delete my account?

From the mobile app, open Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email support@strikeserve.com from the address on your account with the subject line "Delete my account." We'll confirm your identity, close the account, and delete personal information that we're not required to retain. Court-evidentiary records — completed proofs of service, attempt logs, and supporting photos — are kept for seven years to comply with statute-of-limitations periods for challenges to service, as described in our Privacy Policy. After that period, those records are deleted as well.
